About Us...
Helen and Carl Smith
We have been organising holidays to Austria visiting the Operetta Festivals at Bad Ischl, Baden and Morbisch for the past 10 years. We started up C and H Travel out of a desire to share the beauty of Austria and the wonderful music to be experienced there with a wider audience.
One aspect that makes our holidays particularly special is that we provide you with personal representation during your stay in Bad Ischl or Baden. This means that whilst you are free to enjoy your holiday at your own pace, C and H Travel are on hand to help you to make the most of your stay and to assist you as required. Whilst we do not accompany our guests on Vienna and Budapest breaks, we do of course make all the necessary arrangements and are available to assist if required during the stay.
We have over 20 years experience in the tourism and hospitality industry having previously owned and run restaurant and hotel businesses. For 11 years Carl was Quality Development Manager for South West Tourism.
We are both musicians with particular interest in Operetta, Gilbert and Sullivan and musical theatre. We co-founded "Cascade" in South Devon in 1998 - a performing group specialising in operetta and musical theatre whose aim is to raise money for charity. We have been delighted to donate over £17,000 to various charities from the proceeds of our recent concerts.
In 2005 we staged a Gala Concert in Torquay to celebrate the centenary of "The Merry Widow" (Lehar) with full chorus, orchestra and soloists. We followed this in 2006 with an Operetta Gala featuring "Die Fledermaus" (Strauss) and "The Gypsy Princess" (Kalman). Our 2006 production enabled us to donate £ 1500.00 to the Children's Hospice South West.
We are members of the Sir Arthur Sullivan Society, The Gilbert & Sullivan Society the Johann Strauss Society and the Anglo-Austrian Society.
We have combined our love of Austria, our passion for music and our expertise in tourism to bring you an unforgettable holiday experience - we very much look forward to hearing from you!
